Maui Wildfire Relief Fundraiser
In the wake of the devastating wildfires in Maui, our global team united for a cause close to our hearts. The Maui Wildfire Relief Fundraiser channeled our collective energy to aid those affected. We partnered with the Chef Hui Maui Relief Fund, whose incredible work produced over 50,000 meals in just their first six days of operation. Our contribution went beyond financial support; it took the form of a symbol of hope—a specially designed t-shirt. The image, two hands cradling a heart embracing the island of Maui, encapsulated the solidarity that fueled our mission. All proceeds from our t-shirt sales were donated to Chef Hui.
Spreading Holiday Cheer
31st Union is proud to embrace Giving Tuesday this year by partnering with Meals on Wheels. Through the simple act of creating cheerful holiday cards to accompany meal deliveries in December, our goal is to combat the loneliness affecting over 40% of seniors. We hope these cards will become messengers of warmth and connection, spreading a message of care and companionship to those who are homebound.
Next on our agenda is a Toys for Tots drive in collaboration with our neighbors at Zynga. Together, we aim to bring the joy of Christmas to less fortunate children. Join us in this endeavor; find a local Toys for Tots chapter and make a difference in a child's life this holiday season.
Volunteering in California
Throughout December, the team at 31U San Mateo will roll up our sleeves in collaboration with Second Harvest. This network of food banks and rescue organizations works tirelessly to end hunger and to reduce food waste. As we distribute food to local families, we play a role, albeit small, in ensuring that no one in our community goes to bed hungry this Christmas.
Outreach in Spain
Our giveback commitment extends globally and is proudly supported by 31U Valencia. We initiated a campaign to donate older hardware as part of a recent partnership with local NGOs. This effort resulted in 73 computers finding new homes at organizations like the Museo Aeronáutico de Málaga, The Red Cross, and the Asperger's Association. Not only did this extend the life of valuable hardware, but it also empowered these groups to continue their vital work.
In addition, we had a successful food drive to support FESBAL, the Spanish Federation of Food Banks. We are planning a volunteer outing with them soon, where we will pack boxes of food for delivery to shelters and mobile pantries, amplifying FESBAL's reach.
